How to be healthy? What’s the least you can do and still be healthy? We all want to be as healthy as we can, but sometimes it’s difficult to prioritise health in a busy lifestyle. If you’re looking for an easy fix, we’ve put together some of the best ways to stay on top form. CBD can make it easier to be healthy because of its many great properties.

1. Exercise regularly

One of the most important things you need to do to stay healthy is exercise at least a little every day. You don’t have to be a marathon runner or Olympian, even getting up from your desk and going for a short walk can make a significant difference to your health. If you haven’t exercised much for a while, it’s important to take it easy at first. Injuries are common if you haven’t warmed up properly or simply if your muscles aren’t used to exercise. CBD can help in this case. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory that can help speed up muscle recovery in between sessions.

2. Sleep well

Sleep is essential for so many different organs in our body. Getting a good night’s sleep regularly has been linked to better brain, heart and digestive health. However, for many people getting to sleep at night is a struggle. Maybe you’re thinking about work or worried about your finances, there are lots of things that make it hard to switch off. We recommend adding Mee CBD to a herbal tea before bed to help you drift off.

3. Stay hydrated

It’s recommended that we drink around 1.2 to 1.5 litres of water every day: that’s around  six to eight glasses. Dehydration can cause headaches and reduce your energy levels. Carrying a reusable water bottle is a great way to remind yourself to drink and it helps reduce the amount of plastic you use when you’re out and about.

4. Keep your stress levels low

Everyone is bound to feel stressed at some point in their life.. However, feeling stressed for long periods can lead to emotional and physical burnout. Having high levels of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline for an extended period may also lead to heart disease. CBD can help keep your stress levels low. In one study scientists found that taking CBD could lower the amount of cortisol in your bloodstream[1].

5. Reduce the amount of alcohol you drink

While many of us love to head to the pub of an evening, drinking excessively on a regular basis can be bad for our health. Alcohol has been linked to some cancers, liver disease and brain damage[2]. In the UK, it’s recommended that you drink less than 14 units every week. If you find staying away from alcohol tough, there is some evidence that CBD might be able to help you. A review of studies that took place in 2019 found that CBD could help people with Alcohol Abuse Disorder reduce the amount they drank and help with liver and brain damage caused by drinking[3].

6. Quit smoking

Smoking is very addictive and very harmful to your health. While it’s easy to start smoking, it’s much harder to give it up. Vapes and electronic cigarettes should be able to help satisfy your nicotine cravings and research suggests that they are much healthier for you than smoking cigarettes. A review of scientific papers in 2015 concluded that CBD showed potential for helping with tobacco addiction[4]. You can learn more about CBD and addiction here.

7. Keep in touch with your friends

Social interaction is essential for our mental well-being. Spending time with friends and family is important for keeping your brain in good health. Diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s have been linked to a lack of social interaction. Spending time with your friends also boosts your mood and is a great way to take a break from work.

8. Eat your greens

Sticking to a healthy diet is important for staying in good health. Everyone likes a pizza now and again but it’s important to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables regularly. Fibre is also very important for digestive health and can help prevent any digestive problems.

9. Look after your mental wellbeing

Your mental health and your physical health are very closely linked. Anxiety, stress and depression can be caused by physical problems and they can also cause them. Taking care of how you feel is an important way to stay healthy. Taking CBD is a good way to take care of your mental health. Studies have shown that it can help with anxiety.

10. Visit your dentist

Nobody likes going to the dentist, however, ignoring something that doesn’t feel right in your mouth can lead to worse problems in the long term. Try to go to the dentist at least once a year for a check-up. Also, taking CBD can benefit the health of your mouth! Its antibacterial properties can help reduce the risk of infection in your mouth.

11. Take care of your digestion

Problems with your digestive system are relatively common later in life so it’s important to act early to try and prevent them. Eating plenty of fibre is a great place to start. Fibre is essential for keeping your digestive system functioning well and it can be found in fruits, vegetables and pulses. If you have a condition like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, CBD may also be able to help.

12. Go to your doctor if something doesn’t feel right

We’re all guilty of putting off going to the doctor when we probably should. If something doesn’t feel right, make an appointment with your doctor and find out what’s going on. Many conditions are less severe if you treat them early.

13. Meditation

Taking a few minutes to yourself every day can transform your mental and physical health. Sitting quietly and focussing on your breathing has been shown to help your physical and mental health.

14. Take a break

It’s important to take time away from work when you can. It’s difficult to maintain a high work focus for months at a time without suffering from burnout or exhaustion. Take a break and spend time with friends or family. Even if you just spend a few days watching TV it coulddo you good!
