CBD 101: good for mind, body + planet
What is CBD?
CBD is a shorter, easier way of saying ‘cannabidiol’ – and cannabidoil is one of the 113 cannabinoids which are able to be found inside the plant Cannabis sativa, or what’s typically known as hemp or cannabis.
What’s the difference between CBD and THC?
When people hear about cannabis, they often assume it’s going to make them feel ‘high’, but this is only true when THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is present. CBD alone has no psychoactive properties. All Mee products are completely THC-free.
Is CBD basically just a form of hemp?
No, not exactly. The words ‘hemp’ and ‘cannabis’ are sometimes used interchangeably, but hemp is actually just one type of Cannabis sativa plant. Its leaves are abundant in CBD, so it’s a great natural source for the supplement. However, its seeds are not, meaning if you see ‘hemp oil’ or ‘hemp seed oil’ for sale, you shouldn’t confuse it with CBD oil.
Marijuana, again, is different and not related to CBD.
How does CBD work with the mind and body?
This natural substance is increasingly know for its ability to interact with your body’s built-in endocannabinoid system. This is how CBD helps to promote homeostasis – the sense of internal balance that all of us strive for. Homeostasis is the optimal stable internal system from which the body has the best chance of healing and growth.
What is CBD good for?
There is a huge amount of research covering reported use cases for CBD, with studies indicating it may help with everything from stress and anxiety to inflammation, skin conditions and sleep disorders. One of the most commonly discussed uses is also as an analgesic to help with pain. There is much research that links the endocannabinoid system to the critical bodily immune functions.
However, at Mee CBD we have spent a lot of time understanding simply its benefits as a valuable part of our daily nutrition. When taken as a part of a healthy diet cannabinoids play a critical role in promoting physical homeostasis – the stable internal state from which the body can heal, grow and function optimally.
Should CBD only be taken when I feel in need of it in a particular moment?
No. CBD works best when taken regularly as part of a healthy diet. Whilst CBD can certainly be used for immediate impact in a particular moment of need, its function as a daily nutritional supplement is key.
What does taking CBD feel like?
Now you know that CBD doesn’t make you feel ‘high’, and it also has few unwanted side-effects or addictive properties. It is a natural remedy which gives the body and mind the sense of being back in balance – you may never experience that as a direct ‘feeling’ as it does its work internally, however you will notice the positive effects of better sleep, greater calm, increased clarity and physical energy.
